The Tea Ceremony
“What is the unborn?” my teacher asked me.
“Not different; not the same,” I answered pointing
to his tea bowl.
He smiled and looked away.
“Was that the right answer?” I asked
“I forgot. What did you say?”
I placed my bowl down with great care and bowed to it.
He lifted his and spat in it. “Quite so. Quite so!” I said. He chuckled and offered me his tea to drink.
Commentary: words are cheap. It’ easy to say tea is no different than the unborn.
But is tea the same as saliva? Would you drink a cup of another’s saliva?
